Very nice Dave. I love coming up North and hearing the different morning bird chorus.
Cant pick out of these images both very good, maybe #2 less cluttered with branches and twigs but I just love Rosellas
Cheers, Greg
Nice captures.
Lovely captures Dave
Nice catch of the Miner.
Ziggy just beats me to my comment...both of these are noisy in their own way of singing...Sqwaaak!! Rosellas are beautiful but the shot is a bit dark to my taste whereas the miner is just right and bright.
I agree that the first image is a bit dark. I wonder if using a hotshoe flash, especially with something like a Flash-X-Tender might pump some light into the bird. On the OTOH it might light up the branches and make them even more intrusive...
Thanks for commenting Greg, John, David, Jim, Izzie and Richard.
The rosella is too dark. I'll see what I can do with it in pp but I'm not overly hopeful. This was just an opportunist shot and I didn't have my long lens with me. It is cropped a fair bit and the light was not favourable. I was probably too far away for flash.
Dave
Very nice shots, I especially like the composition in #2 , the darkness can be fixed with PP anyway
Nice shots, Dave. In my experience, any time I shoot a bird in its natural environment the image tends to look cluttered. Maybe that has something to do with our flora?
PS the miner is not Australian. Down here it is a pest. Mens' Sheds and other community groups build traps to catch the damned things. In fact, I think some groups have miner-catching days.
The bird looks better in your second edit Is that the vignette which makes the right part of the image so dark ? May be you should brush some (may be %50) of it.
If you don't mind , I'm uploading an edit just to give you an idea Dave I darkened only the blownout highlights in your last edit with a soft brush by using levels in PS and I added some contrast only to the bird selectively to make it stand out more. If you want me to remove the image because you don't like it, please let me know.
PS. Forgot to say that I also added some brightness to the whole image (not increased the exposure but used the brightness adjustment layer in PS, The exposure and the brightness adjustment layers in PS have different functions)

No problems with you posting your edit Binnur. It's always good to see how others view and would change your image. They are fairly subtle changes anyway. With my initial processing of this image, I actually reduced the brightness of the background significantly. Maybe I didn't need to go quite so far.
Thanks for your interest.
