I think I may have pushed the contrast a bit hard. It was in good condition though.

I've worked out why the Tortoiseshell is so bright. Fuji offer film modes on their cameras and I set mine to "Velvia" since it is recommended for landscape and wildlife. It boosts the saturation. Clearly a bit OTT for some subjects.

Davids image of hornet is just amazing...Epic....really really epic...the sharpness on the eye in #1 is just amazing...you really couldnt have done better..congrats David. We all learn from images like this. Keep it up.

I can't match the beauty of the owner posts in this thread but I thought that this was slightly interesting. I saw it outside our bathroom this morning and sat it on a spare tile that was lying around. It's 20cm long when stretched out straight. It was alive but did not move much.
