    Christian Science Mother Church

We were in the area to visit the Mapparium in the Christian Science Library ( a three-story glass globe showing the political boundaries in the 1930's). Amazing sight, amazing acoustics, but no photos allowed.

Trying to get a "normal" view of a large building in the downtown area is problematic at best, which is why I bought a shift / tilt lens last year. It allows one to take a picture where the building doesn't look like it is crashing down on itself via the shift feature. A 24mm lens is a decent wide angle, so between this and the shift feature I was able to get a picture of the whole Christian Science Mother Church, in downtown Boston (but just barely). A wide angle lens does tend to add depth to an image and it does distort the proportions of the subject, so it has to be used with some care, and not every image ends up looking good,

Very neat, Manfred...if a place do not allow photography, I normally am not interested but this is a nice building even outside...and made it more interesting that you are able to shoot it like this.

That's a worthwhile image Manfred and I believe that today, most people take a bit of WA distortion in their stride for shots like this. Our brains have become accustomed to the circumstances. Nice work.
