    Woodland Beach Long Exposure

I'm experimenting with long exposure techniques. This one at Woodland Beach at dawn is my first. The exposure was 237 seconds with a ten stop neutral density filter. I like the effect but the challenge will be to incorporate the effect into images in such a way that it is an enhancement and not the entire point.

I think you did very well on this shot.

    Is the horizon level?

I made an effort to level the horizon and believe it to be so.

If you tried at capture time only, where I can appreciate the difficulty, I'm afraid it wasn't successful.

    Try again? (in PP)

Either that, or check the legs of the chair you're sitting on, because I think it is wonky

This one is the one that had been leveled; my error.

    Thanks Andrew, that's better!

Yes, that's true, although I think this is quite a good composition; you have given us a route through the foreground rocks to the sea and pier which prevents the foreground becoming too heavy and 'blocking' access to the image.

Good luck with 'the challenge', Dave

Good image Andrew and your experiment has worked well.

In this case I think it's a great example in that you have two very strong components, the foreground and pier and it helps to emphasise these.

Not a fan of milky water, I like the rocks and the pier and its dancing wonky legs...they are so..........

Nice image, long exposures suit B&W images as well as the color ones

If that is your first attempt it doesn't show - excellent.
