Sheep and more sheep... C&C Welcomed

While I was at the dog show (see other post), I heard there was also a sheep show on the grounds. As I had never been to one, I was curious and meandered over. I never knew there were so many different types of sheep. What really struck me is what a family event it was and how many kids were participating in the event. It was refreshing to see. Here's a few...

#1 (this one is may personal favorite) - making sure the sheep was cool

#2 - this young girl was so gentle with her sheep

Sheep and more sheep... C&C Welcomed

#3 - love the curls and tongue on this one...

Sheep and more sheep... C&C Welcomed

#4 - this young woman was full of personality - she was showing a Shetland Sheep

Great captures. I am with you. The shot of the 'cool' Suffolk is my favourite.
Were I to nit pick, which I am not really qualified to do, I might comment that with #2 and #4 were these meant to be of the showers, or of the sheep? I can admire pretty girls just walking down the street, anytime, anyday. Seeing prize sheep all done up to show is a different matter altogether. So, as it was a sheep show I would have liked to see more of the sheep, to see their faces and their 'personalities as in #1 and #3, and less of their handlers. If it was your intent to capture the moment for the handlers then I found the amount of included 'half sheep' a little distracting and maybe could have been cropped a little. Please let me head off any possible snide comments on this, my preference for the sheep. No, I am not a Kiwi! Anyway, as I said I am not qualified to pass such judgment of your posts. But such a lack has never stopped me from shooting off my big mouth and firing from the hip.

And for those who might give a damn and care to see them, here are our three scallywags, Alf ( merino crossbreed) Bruno( Border Leicester merino cross) and Sam ( Merino). They are kept as pets. It is apparently beneath their dignity to attend sheep shows! Or so they have informed us.

To the Uccis -- What a beautiful set of pets...Didn't think it will look this hungry, a bit on the healthy size... Sam looks like the spoiled one of Louise, shorn too for winter? One of your best shots, Ken...!!

Hi Ken. I appreciate your comments, as I always find it helpful to hear someone else's perspective. I have a number of pictures from this event and most are of the sheep -- of the group of keepers there were only 3 with humans. #2 was about the relationship with the girl and her sheep - her gentleness. #4 was all about that young woman -- she was the show and not her sheep. ;-)

Thanks for sharing the image of your gorgeous sheep -- they are such beautiful creatures.

Animals were a big part of my life when I was a child and I find #2 especially moving, but there is something nice about every one of the pictures, including Ucci's.

Thank you Tony - I always find it significant when I can move someone... personally, I loved to be moved by photographs.

    I agree on Ucci's lovely sheep. :-)
