Doug - my initial reaction is that this image is not one that does much for me. My eye keep wandering off to the bright area toward the top right, rather than looking at the flower

My initial reaction is that the image is overexposed and the textured effect that you've added takes away from the overall image. I'd pop a polarizer on my lens to take that shot to reduce the glare from the reflections you are getting.

Gor blimey guvnor, that could be a cracking picture but at the moment it looks like it's on being used as Aunt Sally's kitchen wallpaper! What's going aaawwwn with that texture?

Seriously, lovely image but I'm not a fan of the pattern. My eyes suggest that some of the highlights are a little over but I haven't looked at the histogram and it may be my monitor - it is quite difficult to see the details with that overlay!

This one works a lot better. If you are photographing flowers, start looking at shooting them with different types of lighting.

A front-lit shot like this does nothing with the beautiful translucence of flower petals (I particularly like back-lit shots of flowers) and sometimes side lighting can produce interesting results as well.

Nik software can be addicting, Doug...the flower is beautiful nuf...the texture is nice too, I suppose that came with Elements? I haven't play with textures from Photoshop for a long time but I remember seeing something like that one...With Nik, superimposing one filter over another is real playtime...I wish I have more of those -- playtime.
