I would suggest sharpening just the boat ... makes it completely acceptable with the principle subject matter sharp but surrounded by the atmosphere.

I agree that the boat should be sharpened, but the surrounding atmosphere is ... atmospheric!

interesting idea to sharpen up the boat... but for me, to have just the boat sharpened and not the immediate surrounds would be unnatural... the boat would look unnatural, as though it had been dropped in from another picture... but that's just my feeling.
