Well spotted and taken Chuck.
I don't think we have these here in UK natively, but I have seen them flown at wildlife parks in UK - they certainly live up to their name and while not as cute as Little Owls, they are impressive in stature.
Well done, Dave
Very nice Chuck, well captured!
I saw one at the zoo when we went there...to my annoyance, it rotated its head to the other side...silly bugger! How are you able to keep this one facing you?
Thanks for the comments. Izzie, If you want a Great Gray Owl to face you, you must dress up is a mouse costume. It is risky, but it works. If you don't have a mouse costume you just need to wait until it turns it head. Guess which one I did.
Beautiful shot!
Well seen and captured Chuck. The first thought I had was how well the bird and markings on the tree match. Any chance of a selfie of you in your mouse costume
The long wait??? ha! catchya! I spent half an hour waiting for the blistering git to turn its head but it knows I was there and never did, so I left. Guess what it did after I walk away? Turn its head...I was at the wrong place so I just entered another building full of birds instead...wise owl? it was probably a very experienced bird being on show there so it knows how to treat me ignorant.
Caught the moment. That's a great shot Chuck.
Thanks for all the feedback. Izzie, I don't understand how a owl could be so mean to such a nice person. I think the zoo needs to get a new owl.
Very nice capture
What a beauty - owl and image.
