Ooh dear deer

Sometimes I like my job. I spent a few hours being shown around a large deer farm. The deer are very skittish and if you scare them they are likely to run into a fence and hurt themselves. To sort them out they are cautiously herded in to a large shed/barn that is in near total darkness to calm them down.



Anyone want to buy a deer farm? I know one that is for sale.

Food definitely food. They are an introduced species to NZ have done exceptionally well in the wild. partly to the detriment of some of our native flora and fauna. It is only in the last thirty or so years that the deer farming industry has really developed.

I have seen these skittish creatures often on holidays home.
I really like this composition, with the Stag on one side balanced with the wee one on the rt and the centre bright one, just lovely.

Thanks Kay. It is a crop from a larger grab shot taken leaning out the window of a truck. I have the opportunity to go back and walk quietly around the property (maybe lugging a tripod) so I should try and find time to do it.

Hi Izzie. I was there because a colleague at work is responsible for selling it has gone overseas for a few weeks and wanted me know enough about it so I could handle any inquires. I have had a couple and that does not include Dave's obvious keen interest....
