    Neat capture! Your shutter speed IMO was perfect to catch the prop in a blur.

    I have learned a lot about aircraft from images posted on this site...

    Something I never noticed: apparently the rear wheel of the Me-109 doesn't retract. I guess that was the same with the Spitfire. However the P-51 Mustang apparently has retracting rear wheel (deduced from images of the P-51 found on Google). I would guess that a rear wheel hanging down might result in some wind resistance which could have deteriorated the performance just a bit.

    Early Spitfire marks had a non retracting rear wheel, but later derivatives did. I'll have a variety to post - 2200 shots from 3 hours to go through!!!!

    Can't remember off the top of my head - I was generally shooting at around 1/320-1/500th with +2/3EV on auto ISO with a 150 to 600mm lens. Taxing and static shots were a bit slower
