Simple but striking

Striking because it is simple. It's a great example of less being more. In fact, some people would make it even simpler by rendering the water one tonality (eliminating what seems to be reflections of clouds).

Striking because it is simple. It's a great example of less being more. In fact, some people would make it even simpler by rendering the water one tonality (eliminating what seems to be reflections of clouds).

On the other hand I personally would leave the water as-is - because the style reminds me of similar Japanese art-work. The cloud reflections would then, to me, represent wabi-sabi - a Japanese compound term for honorable imperfection and impermanence and much, much more. From that point of view, rendering the water in one tonality would make it "too clean", sorta kinda like.

Thanks all. Mike and Ted--I had played around with this before posting it, both lessening and increasing the contrast caused by the clouds. I decided to leave it as is, which is pretty much as it appeared at the time.

Thanks, all. I was lucky. I saw this and took a few shots, but when I went back a few days later to try some alternatives, the plant had grown much more and was far too complicated.
