Peaceful Foggy Morning . . . constructive advice welcome

I have had some really good feedback on this photo from what I would call just "normal" people who enjoy looking at photos. I wouldn't mind having some constructive advice on whether this photo is good the way it is or if there is something else I could do to make it better. I am using this as a learning tool, so please if you can not be constructive then don't comment. Thank you.

Kathy, landscape is not my specialty but I really like this! It evokes a very eerie calm feeling.

I like the image Kathy, the light is lovely. My only suggestion might be to do something with the very dark lower right portion where it is totally black. Perhaps a 8x10 crop to remove it or some adjustment to shadows to bring out some detail there. It looks like there might be a path there leading into the scene, that would be nice to see if thats the case.

Nicely seen, agree some of the shadows could be brought forward.

A very moody presentation and appealing composition!

This is an exceptionally difficult scene to capture with one exposure because the dynamic range exceeds the ability of the sensor to capture all of it. So, a lot of personal choices need to be made during post-processing. Though some people would understandably lift some of the darker tones, I see no general areas of the image on my profiled and calibrated monitor that have gone totally black and reviewing the tonal values on a histogram confirm that.

If the image was mine, I would select the brightest area of the sun that is "off" the histogram. I would then use a color picker to choose the adjacent color to apply it at a low opacity to the selected area.

Agreed about the black areas Mike I'm now looking on my calibrated iMac, on the iBook it looked totally black. Better leave comments until I view images on a calibrated monitor

I support the crop suggestion as there is nothing of interest in the dark area and there would still be enough dark base to support the image with a crop... one of the problems of being dominated by the camera format?

Hi Kathy , beautiful scene I think there is a slight yellow color cast on the image. I would reduce it and I would brigthen the midtones a bit for a different look. I can upload a quick edit if you don't mind ,just to give you an idea.
