Oh, that's a beauty. Wonderful detail. Background beautifully thrown out of focus. The eye is bright and vibrant. The tones are in harmony. Yep, that works for me.
What an odd looking bird but a very nice shot. Like that.
Fantastic shot Barbara, being a kid in the Looney Tunes era you can't mention Road runner without bringing a smile to my face![]()
Wonderful Barbara.
Cracking shot Barbara, very well done!
That's very good Barbara, it also brought a smile to my face.
I must show this to the grandkids who are watching the old cartoons again.

Oh well...
Seriously, I even like the sideway pose apart from everything Donald mentioned. I haven't seen one in reality...not even in any zoo.![]()
Thank you Izzie! I love roadrunners and as I told Donald made it a goal to get a close up of one on my trip. It was much more difficult than I had imagined. They move very fast and you normally see them while you are driving. Roads in west Texas or at least in the area we were in, are very narrow and some have no shoulder before a long drop off so stopping is not an option. On our last day as my husband was checking out I walked around the property and spotted this guy and his mate. I was fascinated to learn that they mate for life. Our guide on one of our excursions told us a pair had been living in the area where she lives and one of them had been killed or died. She sadly reported that the other continuously calling out for it's mate and searched and searched for it for days. I had never really considered that such emotions were possible from a bird. Lesson learned.
