Camera learning curve: this in camera filter is called 'light painting'

The a58 comes with a fair number of in-camera filters. Light painting, toy, three different HDR's and the list goes on. This was created with Light painting and processed modestly in Sony Express with a slight crop in Gimp. Comments? Critiques? Applause? (I live in hope)

This shot is done in the lightest HDR. The same basic minimalist pp and I have calibrated my monitors.

Just to say it is coming up about two stops under exposed for my liking and too dark to see many details. The rose doesn't stand out enough and it makes it really hard to see. If it's on purpose I'd be curious as to why you chose that route artistically. If not, your monitor needs adjusting. It's too bright.

My goto exposure is one or two stops under exposed. With my previous camera it was the best way to get the details up. I did just have some work done to my monitor so i shall now re-calibrate.

Okay I re-calibrated and now to see how the next shot comes out. Thanks.

I like the processing of the second shot, I'm wondering if you couldn't get something similar by shooting in AUTO mode. I say that because what I'm looking at based only on exposure is how my camera would expose a scene if left on AUTO. Regardless, the filters look like a lot of fun, did you try some of the others on this same subject?

I have tried them on other subjects and they are interesting. The shot you like may not actually be a filter. It is a three shot compilation to create HDR. This was it's lowest setting.
