Tell me something. Are NZ sheep fond of throwing themselves in front of cars (bus in your case) as they are in Wales? I was out mountain-biking yesterday, cycling down a very steep trail when a full-size sheep decided to throw himself at me. Why do they do that? I know I'm good-looking, charming etc, but surely sheep have speed-dating?

I was out mountain-biking in Mid-Wales today. Absolute back of beyond. All I could see were sheep. And I thought to myself as I got out of the car and took the bike off the roof, "You know, Rob, you can do this. No one will even see you cycling naked". I cycled for 23 miles along a deserted track, and came across precisely zero people in 3 hours. Lot's of sheep giving funny looks though.

PS. I might have had my shorts on.

What about this one then. He was an interesting little b*****. We were on a walk and came across a double line of wire fence, and he was somehow trapped between them. he must have jumped over because we couldn't find a gap. He looked panicked, so I climbed over one fence and cornered him. I managed to get a grip under his belly and lifted him up. As I struggled to get him over the fence (he was squirming as he thought I was making advances) a farmer came over the horizon just like the 7th cavalry, yelling something about bloody English sheep rustlers, and how he was going to get me transported to NZ (I reminded him there are sheep there too) . Sheep, you can't live with 'em, and you can't live without 'em.

Shot was taken a few minutes later. He doesn't look very grateful, does he?

Rob this is starting to read like a script from the League of Gentlemen. Whilst Donald, Dave and I may understand (well nod sadly) our friends from other parts of the world probably need some explanation

Location: An island off the West Coast of England

Language: English with no vowels. Only spoken when an Englishman is present

Border Control: Unknown. Couldn't understand what the sign said so drove straight past the sheep in Idi Amin's uniform

Customs; Vandalising English road signs (with graffiti written in English??). Forming large gangs and singing at sheep. Kicking seven shades out of other British colonies whilst clutching a misshapen sheep's bladder.

Unfortunately this was what resulted from the fallout from the Chernobyl disaster when Scotland was covered by radiation from the explosion that took place (and you thought volcanic ash was bad!). All sheep sales in most of the country were halted and it spelt financial ruin for many (I was working in a livestock marketing organisation at the time).

Se we embarked on a breeding programme to toughen up our stock!
