I must go back when the tide is in

I had wanted to create a panorama of this fishing village for some time. My alternative title of the thread was "six little clouds" but I didn't want an ear bashing off someone for making them search around the image to find them

As well as going back when the tide is in, I shall next time shoot in portrait mode to capture a bit more real estate at the bottom of the frame. Due to me shooting in landscape mode for this version I had to do some creative artistry along the bottom of the stitched frames. For this panorama I used four frames stitched using PS. I had initially tried Microsoft Ice but it couldn't seem to line up the first two image at the left.

As always your thoughts and comments would be appreciated.

Very nice and that is a very interesting looking fishing village. Does the tide come in and surround the village?

Thank you Jim, when the tide is in the little bit of beach on the left of the village (you can just make out the high water line on that beach) would be the only part of the harbour not covered in water.
The little beck (Yorkshire speak for river or stream) visible at the bottom right hand side is also tidal, in this image you may just make out one cobble (fishing boat) moored below the little footbridge.

I saw your little six clouds... and your shot looks like this is a miniature village...very, very nice. I love it...

No ear bashing, but your idea to skip the cloud title was a good one. Nice panorama. Reminds me of the Brit TV series we love so much - "Doc Martin."

Despite that this is well done, there is so much potential in this scene. I look forward to your final treatment.

Thanks Izzie, Bud and Mike for stopping by to look and comment on this panorama. The more I think about reshooting this scene I don't think I can get more space in front of the nearest houses which back on to the beck.
My shooting position for this set was at the highest point on a steep sided cliff (see my before and after thread) which is why I doubt I can get anymore foreground, without abseiling off the edge :-(

Wouldn't a shorter focal length give you that?

Use a Fisheye Peter, then your only problem is not getting your toecaps in the shot. (Yes I know fisheye panoramas just don't work.) It's a nice shot and an interesting treatment. Looks like a model village. Where is it. My first thought was Staithes but I'm not so sure.

Your first thought is spot on John, I was more concerned with not stepping over the edge than getting toes or tripod in

    Peter,

Beautiful panorama. I highly recommend using portrait whenever you shoot a panorama. It gives you a bit of extra height if you need it but also make cropping the final panorama much easier. You might also want to try shooting the same field of view with a longer lens. You'll obviously need more shots but the perspective would be more compressed. Whether that is good or bad depends on your vision.

This is a nice picture. It's interesting to look at the place with Google maps as well. I can see then the difficulty of getting more foreground. I think to get the perspective less(?) compressed you would need to be further away which doesn't look practicable in this case. (I am not entirely sure what compressed means in this context.)
