    Staithes North Yorkshire

After posting my panorama of Staithes, I though you may like to see what I would call the classic view of this fishing village, taken in May last year.
To help in orientating this view to that seen in the panorama, this view is from just below the cottages that can be seen at the top right side of the panorama.

As always I would welcome your thoughts and comments.

Very nice image Peter IMO the image might look nicer with some 'curves' adjustment.

It looks a delightful village, Peter, and this seems to be a good viewpoint for the scene. For me, the perspective distortion (which isn't in the panorama), from pointing the camera downwards, gives the image a less comfortable feel. It might also benefit from a bit more contrast - which is perhaps what Binnur's suggestion implies.

Thanks for looking and commenting Philip, much appreciated. The image posted here wasn't complete from a processing perspective. From memory it was a couple of images merged using Enfuse. I only created the thread as a follow on from the panorama. In this you can see where I was when making the panorama I was standing at the high point of the RHS cliff. Thanks again for you comments which I shall remember when I revisit the processing of this image.

The 'fussy' side of my processing instinct tells me that Philip is right about perspective control but, in fact, I think the distorted verticals add to the character of the composition, given the randomness of the village layout. For me it works both ways but I slightly prefer the original.
    Charming harbour village nicely captured.

Your comment is interesting, Neville -- as the first one I saw in Peter's image was the yellow house with a crooked side but looking ahead the line of the horizon is straight so I reckon it needs using the perspective warp option...just that people think and see images differently.

and that's what makes it interesting.

I imagine Lowry would like the perspective corrected while Picasso would like the distortion.
