The Pelee Island Lighthouse was built in 1833 and "last light" occurred in 1901. It is located on the north-east corner of Pelee Island, which is the southern-most inhabited place in Canada (Middle Island, that is just south of Pelee Island is the southern most point in Canada, but being part of a National Park and wildlife reserve, not a lot of people get there). Pelee Island, is located in the middle of Lake Erie, is the largest island on the lake. It's about a 90 minute ferry ride from the mainland.
We spent the day biking around the island (around 30km / 19 miles) and did a short stop at the lighthouse. Frankly, we enjoyed visiting the Pelee Island winery a lot more...
