Roses are Red.....Well this one certainly is.
In Ireland they often say "If you can see the mountains, it is going to rain. If you can't see the mountains, it is already raining"
This large rose shines like a beacon, growing in very poor soil and trailing up a timber screen to hide ugly things like central heating boiler, garbage bins and so forth.
Nikon Df with Sigma 50mm f2.8 Macro. 1/60 at f16, ISO 500. Fill-in flash (Nissin Di622 mark II)
I must admit to a little cheating. There was no rain but a small water bottle with mist sprayer can in handy.
I am now being punished for this act of deceit as the rain has started and it looks like it has no plans for stopping.

Let's just hope it's not a punishment for impatience. Nicely captured.

Wow, Neville, that's one of the technically reddest flower images I've ever seen on the net! It's really pretty.
In many places it's even pure red, e.g. the pixel at location x,y = 1043, 18: RGB = 170, 0, 0; HSV = 0 deg, 100% sat, 67% bright.
And the hue histogram shows an average of 0 deg (pure red) with a std. dev. of only about 2 deg.
Chromatically outstanding!

Thank you John, Ted, David and Kris for comments. Kris, I find it hard to keep most things alive in a garden that's quite open and exposed to almost constant winds but I suppose we need to seize the moment to capture them in their prime.

Re: Roses are Red.....Well this one certainly is.
Roses need at least 6 hours of sunshine...if it is in the shade it does not flower. My first flowers growing up were wild orchids and roses. My neighbours around here asked how I have a lot of roses and I said they are from trimmings -- I plant them on the ground and what grows, grows; what doesn't goes.
Anyhow, that explanation taken cared of, Neville -- that is a very nice flower shot just that it has too much spray for me, you should have shaken off a little bit then take the shot...I like that biggy round water drop at the bottom near the middle...looks good.

Thank you Izzie and Binnur. Good point about the droplets Izzie. Sometimes less is more.

Nice detail.
On this side of the pond, we say the same about Seattle and Mount Rainier.

Thanks guys. It's stopped raining now, so perhaps it was just a warning!
