    Are these a particular type of clouds?

    Are these a particular type of clouds?
    Whilst driving home the other day I noticed this amazing cloud formation. It built and evolved for about 30 minutes and was at its most impressive in a spot where I couldn't stop but it was still quite defined here. 10 minutes later it had gone with a little thunder!

    They look a bit like Mammatocumulus.

    There is another type of cloud in that image. The line that goes from midpoint on the right downward to the left is an arcus cloud. There are several types of those too. If they separate from the main cloud they are called a roll cloud. Connected like this one is they are called a shelf cloud.
