    Giraffe at Sunset

    I took this photo at sunset at the Okavango Delta in Botswana, Africa. They are beautiful animals. Thought I would share.

    Yes. I agree with Binnur here...the first thing that I noticed was the light...absolutely stunning image!

    I had the converse. I was struck by the obvious impact of the image, but I had to look carefully to see that it was the light that affected me so.

    Giraffes are graceful yet at the same time awkward-looking. You captured that in this position of the animal.

    Thanks to all for the comments. I enjoyed the giraffes, partly for the reason Mike pointed out - the are graceful and awkward-looking at the same time. They are the only animal I know of who moves there legs on the same side at the same time. A photographic problem, when you focus on the eye there is a lot of animal that can be out of focus. A real f/stop issue.

    This is known technically as a pace. The only other animals to do this naturally are the various Hyaenas. It is probably something to do with their strongly developed forequarters. I am told that domestic horses can be trained to pace.
