Hi, Peter;
I assume the dimensions are cm. Is this intended to be a pocket camera? In the Canon Powershot line, the G11 and S90 will both shoot raw. Maybe some of the other top Powershots will.
The G11 is a bridge camera, has a hot shoe, allows a lot of control, can take a teleconverter, etc. I haven't used either one, but my wife is looking at the G11 right now.
Cheers,
Rick
I can recommend the Panasonic LX-3 AKA Leica D-Lux 4
Very nice camera.
I too can recommend the DMC-LX3. It produces RAW files and you can download the CODEC from the website so you can view them in Windows Explorer. I use Elements V6 for post-processing.
Thanks, all, for your suggestions. I'll pass on the suggestions.
Peter
Thanks for that, Colin - I hadn't realised that it could be taken either way! Thus, to clarify; I shall inform Contax-User that the LX-3 is worth a look, Leica lens notwithstanding..!
Might get one myself...
You might want to mention the Ricoh GX200 as well. Nice pocket sized, RAW capability and good quality photographs. Lots of tweaking is possible.
Sony NEX 5N or the upcoming 7N, if that's fits your size requirements (very portable with the 16mm pancake wide). I have a 5K and have been quite pleased with the results. All produce RAW, however they're Sony's RAW (.ARW)...Best of luck...
Hi Peter, When I was researching a pocketable camera that shoots RAW, the Canon S95 was a top contender as one of the most capable. The S100 upgrade should be out soon.
Hi Peter,
I agree with Frank, I was about to buy the S95, a month ago, when the S100 was announced.
a) Canon S95/S100 are both (within a millimetre) 10 x 3 x 5.8 cm, so small
b) both shoot RAW
S95 has a 28-105mm (3.8x) lens, 10MP, DIGIC4 processor
S100 has 24 - 120 (5x) lens, 12MP, DIGIC5 processor and GPS
Extensive research on image quality and above all, the small pocketable size, led me to the S95 over anything else.
The wider lens range, faster processor and, to an extent, the GPS is what steers me to the S100, I am trusting that the image quality won't be worse than the previous model.
Cheers,

Since I like the lenses of (Minolta) Sony very much I'm waiting to see the NEX 7 launched.
Before I switched to Canon some 5 years ago I was a Minolta user, but because of the lack of a pro body in that time I made the move to Canon.
the Canon Lenses are really very good and sharp, but lately I had to make a print for customer of a picture made with the Minolta equipment. Looking at it I like the Bokeh of the 28-70 mm lens from Minolta over the Canon 24-70mm
I want to reduce the weight of the stuff that I carry with me and the NEX 7 can be a serious candidate.
See how the reviews will show and how the EVF will work.
B.t.w. the RAW format doesn't bother me. Also now with Canon I always convert them to DNG.
Peter,
I'm not sure if this is small enough for you, but I got an email from Nikon about a new small camera that shoots raw, has small interchangeable lenses and has a new censor with duel processor. I know nothing about it but it seemed interesting. Not cheap however. Here's the link if you're interested.
