How do you take a photograph of fish in a pond? Though the eye sees the fish easily the camera sees reflections. Do you need a polarising filter to resolve this?

I would recommend that your starting point is Sean's tutorial on this site (click here). From there you can start exploring various makes of filter at various sites.

You will find that some people absolutely swear by polarisers and would never go anywhere without one, whilst others just can't see the attraction. It all depends on what you're wanting to do and what what you want to create.

So far as purchasing is concerned, it is the case that you will find the 'excellent' quality and the 'not-so-good'. Price, of course, gives you a reasonable indication of what you're buying. However, not all of us need the top quality everything. And if you haven't got unlimited funds, then cost weighs in as a factor. You have to balance your desires with the depth of your pocket.

I have one, but find I use it much less often than I used to.
