It depends on what you mean by "pro shoot". A "real" pro would have assistants with reflectors or battery powered studio lights pushing in light from the front as fill light.

I can't tell what lenses they are shooting with, but if they are using the f/2.8 70-200mm lens (which is my guess), I suspect that they are amateurs standing way too far back.

My title was intended to be a bit facetious...was too subtle.

The problem, as Manfred will be well aware, is that there are people purporting to be pros out there who would quite happily conduct a shoot in this way and expect to get paid for it.

I am confused...so if a photographer have assistants to shoot a model, then they are "professional"? Are they also the only ones that who can make good images because they control the lights? Just thinking out loud...

    No, but ....!

Amateurs can have assistants and can control lighting. The point, I think, is that a 'real' pro wouldn't go out to do a shoot like the above without these resources to hand .... whereas many amateurs would.

We'll never know unless William ventured across the water to see what was going on. I see another person very close to the photographer, perhaps the second person is an instructor teaching the photographer the do's and don'ts.

The lady is wearing sunglasses so I think she is pretending Holding camera roughly in position for man to see the shot?

I initially thought you were being facetious but I took you seriously when you mentioned that Canon gear was being used. That made perfect sense to me.
