That looks really good Marie, great detail in the craters. We haven't had a clear night for a while and pouring with rain here at the moment
I had a similar shot with the same background distortion. I've had similar problems trying to clean up the background. Have you tried cloning?
Very nice Marie, I had a go also but tried to early when the moon was coming up through some hazy clouds, so detail is not as good as yours never mind there's always another night
It looks good Marie
John,
i am not quite sure what you are referring to. What distortion and why cloning?
Marie
Dear Greg,
It is once in a blue moon that I get it right (lols, a play on words).
I took this with my 70-200 f2.8. The excellent optics of this lens allowed me to crop at I wanted.

Hi Marie,
I saw the stars, if that's what they were as distortion. They became more prominent depending on how I processed the image. When I zoomed in the white specks that I saw as noise were very fragmented and I treated them as a distortion caused by my camera settings.
Nice image.
Dear John,
What was your ISO? The ISO was set at 640, but really, it could have been less as I was shooting with a remote. The shutter speed was 1/80 and the f-stop, 9. The focal length was 168mm.
Try playing with the contrast and recovering the highlights.

Dear David,
I am so fortunate to live in an area where the air is not polluted and where the term "black as night" really does apply. We have no close neighbors. On a clear night, I can see an infinate number of stars.
I am waiting for a meteor shower. If I can get some pictures then, that would be awesome!

Beautiful!
Dear Binnur,
Thank you for looking and commenting.
Marie
Dear Ziggy,
Thank you as well. Were you able to get some good shots? Ohio is just across the river from us, so your weather should have been awesome!
