    I like it better that way.

    But...
    The bokeh of the kit zoom does leave some to desire, and it can be somewhat improved in post production. The twigs at upper left could be softened a bit to create a smoother bokeh. As it is now, the upper left is somewhat busy. If you get a macro lens, it might have more pleasing bokeh. Before making up your mind for one, check for their bokeh in images taken with them.

    You're right the lens does have it's limitations. But the major problems with this shot come from the man behind the camera body not the lens in front.

    Eventually there may be lenses ordered but for now and the foreseeable future I am going to learn how to get the most out of the kit I've got. I know I have barely scratched the surface of what this kit can do.

    Your observation of the problems in the top left are a perfect example of how much more room there is for improvement from behind rather than in front.
