    partially backlit sunflower

This is a long-planned redo of a shot I did years ago, when I was first starting on flower images.

This is a 7-shot stack, using Zerene DMap. 100mm macro, 5D3, original images all 0.3 seconds, f/6.3, ISO 100. The lighting was simple. I had one hair light with an umbrella slightly in front of and above the flower, and another behind and above, without an umbrella, pointing down, with a diffuser. I ended up with a slightly lower ratio of back lighting to front lighting than I thought I saw in real life, and I may do it again later this week with more back light.

    C&C welcome, as always.

It looks very nice Dan, but you are right that some more backlighing would be good. IMO another point is that, the centre of the flower with seeds covers a big area and lessens the impact of the backlighting. May be it would be a good idea to try another composition with more petals and less area with seeds. I love sunflowers

I love sunflowers Dan...I was doing some frontlighting (as opposed to backlighting) yesterday as I shot from the back. This is a good one...

    It's a nice image Dan.

I agree with Binnur about more petals and less seed but don't know how to do it on this frame.
