    Kudus

We left Botswana and traveled to Kafu National Park in Zambia. It is a big park, about the size of New Jersey. On the trip from the dirt airstrip the first animals we saw were this pair of female kudu's. They are big antelope, not to fast or agile in the open, but they live in forested areas where they escape predations by jumping of obstacles.

Nice one, Chuck! Great positioning of the pair relative to each other.

I had never even heard of kudus before going to South Africa. By the time I left, I had also eaten the meat and it's quite good.

Gorgeous shot, Chuck. Too bad you didn't get a shot of a male with those beautiful twisted horns.

As Mike says. good eating too. We found a nice restaurant in Windhoek, Namibia that served all kinds of game.

They are similar to Bambi, Chuck...are the meat as tasty as venison too? Nice composition and beautiful animal...

For me, the meat tastes and looks like beef except that it is more lean.

Thanks for the comments. Mike, this photo was taken in Kafu National Park in Zambia. I too ate some kudu meat, but I prefer to see the animals alive in the bush. I'll try to find a photo of a male kudu.

I am sure it is not easy to get a shot like this!

Right place, right time, good eye, nice sharp clear image.

Great capture! I like how their heads are positioned, and that they are looking directly into the camera!
