    Confederate President Jefferson Davis COLORIZATION

    Hi Everybody,

I found a really nice Civil War era photograph that I wanted to color and then found out it was Confederate President Jefferson Davis. I didn't even know that the Confederates had their own President until I started coloring this photo....I went to private school, which is the excuse I'm using for this one. Hope you guys like it and thanks for looking!

Depending on the number of background objects, it can take anywhere from 4 hrs to 12. This one however, since it only has a few books and 2 tables, took 3 hrs. I can typically color all the human skin in an hour. The tedious part is coloring all the background objects that might be in the picture are what eat up the majority of your time. I've included a screenshot of my PSD file so you can see how many colors were used in this "not very busy" photo.

Try using Reddit Colorization as a resource. The users on there will go over their techniques and guide you to what works best for you. I learned from Mads Madsen who started the whole colorization subreddit. He has some videos on youtube of his technique (which I based my technique off of). Link below.

Nice effort, the skin tones are a bit pinkish, my interpretation would lean more towards a ruddy skin tone.
