I recently visited the grounds of Rideau Hall, residence of their Excellencies, The Right Honourable David Johnston
Governor General of Canada and Mrs. Sharon Johnston. A wonderful place to visit if you are ever in Ottawa. C and C most welcome.

I like this image. Looking I think maybe some more brick in front but that might have made catching the full reflection more difficult.

Thanks Matt. I was using an Opteka 6.5 mm Fisheye lens (inexpensive but somewhat lacking in quality) which isn't compatible with the camera to collect settings. I had the lens set at F/11 and infinity.

Thanks Jim, I'll see if I can adjust the composition to capture more brick in front next time I swing by this location. Agree that this probably would have been more appealing.

I've driven past Rideau Hall a number of times but was not aware that it is open to the public.

When I first saw this image yesterday I thought it would have been nice to shoot this with a fisheye...this is nicely done for a fisheye image, not too overly done as most do with their lenses...

When I saw this pic, I was undecided as to whether this had been taken with a fisheye or not, which says something (positive) about your composition. Well-conceived!

When I first saw this image yesterday I thought it would have been nice to shoot this with a fisheye...this is nicely done for a fisheye image, not too overly done as most do with their lenses...

Manfred, thanks. It really is a great place to visit with lots to photograph. The grounds are always open to the public in the summer while the GG and his wife are in residence at the Citadel in Quebec City. There is an access gate at the intersection of Rideau Gate Road and Thomas Street that I believe is open 24 hrs. I walked in at 6:30 in the morning, having done the 'official tour' the day before. The official daily tours of the inside of Rideau Hall are from around 9:30-3:00 and from 3:00-4:30 they allow "self-directed" tours. There is also a small changing of the sentry ceremony on the hour, every hour right at the main entrance to the residence. I parked on Mackay Street and walked in from there.
