    Aden in kimono

My daughter rarely (i.e. almost never) lets me take her picture, but made an exception yesterday.

We had taken her to a studio for some formal shots in a kimono (this is apparently a "graduation kimono) and after hair, makeup and fitting, we were allowed to take a few snapshots (existing light) in front of a small screen just before she headed into the studio for the formal shots.

Unfortunately, I'm editing on my laptop, so have a poor screen and limited tools to do the image properly.

Love the colours and everything, it will be interesting to see what the pros' (ya pro, I remember the other ones done) images will look like stacked up against yours.

    Cheers: Allan

Just to give folks an idea of what the shooting constraints were.

This is what I had to work with (this is someone else's shot of the area).

The studio itself was quite interesting (I would have loved to be able to get a few shots of it). The studio was a two story building; the bottom looked like a large store full of kimonos and other formal attire for all ages and for male and female. The upstairs had a full makeup studio as well as a large room with around 6 or 8 preset "sets".

No studio lights at all; the place was fully sit by a combination of fluorescent tubes and a few LED light sources. The only flash in use was a small Speedlite that was fired vertically at the ceiling for bounce light.

Lovely image! Your daughter looks lovely in a kimono. That is (IMO) unusual for a female of European background.

Awwww...she is so flowery colourful...very nice image, Manfred...I am supposing you are now in Japan for the wedding??? Don't get too stressed out by the mistakes you see of others. I know I would as I did when my son got married but I turned my back and look somewhere...while you are there, you have a wonderful time, OK?

Quite stunning Manfred and definitely one for the album. I'm sure the formal shots will be excellent but this is the one you will remember.

Yes, definitely here for the wedding. No, not getting stressed at all. I'm having a bit of a holiday and we are starting to get over the jet-lag too.

Not loving the weather, but then summer is hardly the best time of year to visit Japan.
