Very nice, I just happened to catch a documentary this weekend about the history of ballooning. Interesting stuff.
See my smugmug.com gallery of the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta at:
https://rpcrowe.smugmug.com/Travel/A...ALLOON-FIESTA/
IMO, if anyone ever has a chance to attend the Fiesta, grab that chance by the horns and attend! You can get down on the field as the balloons are ascending which makes great photo opportunities. My gallery provides lots of information on both the Fiesta and shooting that event!
If I attend the Fiesta again, I will spring the cash to take a balloon ride. Some of the best shots of the balloons are from overhead with the ground rather than the sky in the background
That is a nice shot, Brian...balloons are always a good photo op. They are very colourful...
This is nice too....love the colours too...
We don't have a lot of ballooning around here, but there are a couple of operators doing commercial 'have-a-ride-in-a-balloon' flights. Garry (dog) and I were out for our early morning walk a couple of weekends ago. Given that I'm a landscape photographer, you'll realise that this is a pic not of a balloon, but of a balloon in the landscape.
Anyway, we seem to have hijacked Brian's thread with all our own pics. Hope you don't mind, Brian. I think you're right about your second image. There is a beauty of an image in there.

OK, so I do actually get around to trying to do a bit more with an image and here's what happened.
This isn't actually the image I started to work with but I noticed that I did have the burn in this one that added a bit of a highlight and high action to this image. I cleaned up a few of the specular hightlights in the foreground. I think this works a bit better.
We will be back at the same cottage in Olney again this year so I might get another chance.
