    A very gloomy morning!

I got up really early this morning hoping the weather would be on my side, unfortunately my location was flooded with mist and cloud. Eventually the sun made a minor appearance.

I will be going back to this location sometime this week, when the weather is better hopefully! But for now I've got the image below:

    A very gloomy morning!

    Thanks for viewing.

Lovely scene Matt, I think the weather worked out quite well actually, giving you something a little different.

Cheers Dave, it is lovely in that area.

And I did mention that I was sick of standard sunset/sunrise shots in another thread so I guess I've jinxed myself! Although I had to bring out the detail in the clouds in PP.

Thanks Izzie, the cloud isn't meant to be purple though! I processed this in the car on my laptop A very gloomy morning!

I'll adjust it when I get home.

Matt, I like your picture. I think that it is because it is gloomy that it works. Are you using the adjustment brush in Lightroom?
If that is the case I have the same problem with colouring.

I like the subject, Matt, but the lighting seems a little odd. It looks to me like the sunrise is in the upper right, behind the hill which would put the foreground area in semi'shadow but the light appears to be uniform throughout the whole frame?

Because I exposed for the sky the foreground was very dark so I lifted the shadows/blacks... maybe a bit too much.

    I'll make some adjustments later.

    Thanks Ole.

I don't use Lightroom much anymore, I processed this in Photoshop.

Nice shot Matt. I seem to have spent the last couple of months living within clouds like that, but today it changed for a few hours

Cheers Grahame, it has absolutely hammered down all day so I had to improvise. I've been trying out panning for the first time

Bit of a red/magenta cast that is easily put right. I like the composition. That's a nice lead into the scene. A bit further forward and you might make more of the lake. Must be a nice area.

Cheers John, I have got one further forward but I blew the bloody highlights in the sky and didn't check the histogram A very gloomy morning!

I'll have another look at it.

Very interesting scene Matt. IMO the colors will look better when you fix the magenta color cast

Thanks Binnur, I'll have another go at processing this tomorrow or possibly one of the other compositions I have.
