    The Old and the New

A couple of shots taken in the Queen Victoria Building in Sydney, a lovely old building renovated beautifully for shopping. Comments welcome. Pity about the close crop on the left hand side of the second shot but I had to do some perspective correction.

Very nice shots and they look great in B&W! It reminds me of a "mall" I went to in Rome.

Yes, good clarity and plenty of contrast. The second image works fine like that.

Dave, these are very nice sharp pictures. It's interesting how the prominent features stand out against a lot of detail.

The building has had a checkered history. I haven't been in it for some years and did not realise that it had been renovated again this century.

    Very strong B & W conversions.

I'm finding the second one a bit busy with my eyes darting all over the image. The clock could have been the main focus of attention, but I think, instead, it's competing for attention with all the other elements in the frame.

The first one, on the other hand, is quite different. I'm seeing the guy bottom centre and the main focus of interest and tehn everything else happening around him.

Thanks Tony and Donald for your comments.

Tony I'm not sure when the building was renovated but it must have been in recent years.

Donald I think you make a very valid point about the "busy-ness" in 2. I have some other clock shots which I haven't processed yet so I will have a closer look at those.

Dave -- I like both of them...We also have a Queen Victoria Bldg in Melbourne and for the most part, it houses the Queen Victoria Market (if you remember...) Nothing compared to this shot...much cleaner for sure and more upmarket. The building itself has its charms in a different way...I would like to see more ... now I am beginning to like Black and White again having seen quite a few being uploaded lately...

Beautiful architecture in both images Dave and highlighted all the more with B&W conversion.
    Well done

Thanks for your comments Izzie and Greg. Yes it's very different to the Queen Victoria Markets in Melbourne.
