    Shinkanzen

This is one of the high speed Shinkanzen trains rolling into Nagoya Station. This was one of a set of burst shots as the train rolled by. I liked the various lines in the image.

Now that I'm home and on my editing computer, I've updated the image with slightly toned down bushes (i.e. burned in). They are sitting in a sunlit spot, so I can only do so much without getting them to look "wrong".

All those lines really combine together wonderfully well to give the image real depth.

Beautiful picture. Everything to like about this shot, subject, colors, leading lines and to top it off, the sunburst on the windshield. Needs to be framed.
I was stationed in Japan when I was in the service. Wish I could go back; loved the country, culture and the people.

    Thanks for sharing.

Super wide angle and very effective. That train looks almost predatory. Is the snout really as long as it seems?

Yes, the nose is quite long (I understand this is for noise reduction), but the 24mm focal length used in this shot does exaggerate it a bit.

In addition to everything already mentioned, I like the juxtaposition of the straight lines of the station and the curved lines of the train. That juxtaposition is emphasized even more in a black-and-white version.

Does it work as a B&W image, yes. Do I think it loses something? I feel it does.

I like the color version because I think the blue of the sky compliments the chrome of the train. But, those green bushes are very bright. Maybe you could consider reducing the luminescence of the green?

I did play around with them during raw import. I increased their brightness a touch by dialling up the yellow in the image as I found the background needed a bit more punch.

Oh yes, colour is best, I think, though I too found the bushes a bit bright. Awesome image, though.
