Superb Matt. Well captured and composed.
Nice thought in the thread title too. Sadly since the origin of mankind there has always been warfare. Part of our nature I suppose, but we must strive to eliminate it wherever we can.
Don't know the name of the butterfly. Neither does the butterfly, and it doesn't care either.
Very vibrant capture.
Beautiful butterfly Matt
What a colorful butterfly.
That's very nice Matt. Doesn't need all of the LHS IMHO and it could be cropped. I think it's a male Common Blue but I say so with trepidation. Geoff will be lurking somewhere and he's the expert.
That is one beautiful butterfly. Never seen one with these gorgeous colours!
I believe I've found the culprit... its a 'short-tailed blue':

I've got a few more of this little feller, I'll post them up when I get round to processing them.
just beautiful. inspiring. thank you for starting our day with this image
Well captured Matt
Like that better Matt. Sure it's not a male Common Blue?

Click on the image of the male to enlarge it.
Short-tailed Blue is a rare immigrant and looks a little different on the wing markings.
I would agree with Common Blue.
There are a couple of alternatives such as the Brown Argus which doesn't quite fit and some rare south coast forms like Silver-studded Blue, Chalkhill Blue and Adonis Blue which are very localised.
Nice shot, Matt. I much prefer the 2nd version, too.
The second improves upon what was already a lovely shot.
Even better, Matt.
I do not like those twigs at the LHS...just leave that part blank for the simplicity of the shot...this has, to me, some more good crops available for this image too...Nicer edit...
Great capture Matt.
As for the crop options they both work for me
Oh my; how pretty!!! You really did the butterfly justice!
