Welcome to the CiC forums from me.

To answer your question; the thread title is an invitation for other's (with Compact or Bridge cameras) to add their own photos here.

That is, as opposed to DSLR pictures, where higher quality might be expected, here we accept that not all images will be RAW, etc.
I guess the Leica X1 would qualify, but we'd expect Leica quality from it

Could you share your first name with us please?

Dear Nerakkay, thanks for the comments. Must have a play with the butterfly pictures to see if I can improve them.

The camera is a Panasonic DMC FZ 35 - not sure that I'd call it simple. Check my "Why I love my FZ28/25 thread for more details.

Hi, I am a new member, and I just purchased a bridge camera (still waiting for it to arrive). I wanted something simple where I could play with all of the settings yet not have all of the baggage. I am not sure if I am ready to give up my SLR with all of the great lenses, but I agree with you, it is the photographer's eye that is more important. I do very little editing to my photo's, except for straightening. (I tend to lean when shooting, and am not sure why).Anyway, any information you have on bridge cameras will be appreciated.

Hi yes, my first name is Karen. All of my life I have wanted a Leica; my father passed away this year, and on his birthday November 8, I bought this camera. (Actually, he bought it for me)... When I receive it I will post a couple of pictures. I can only wonder what this little camera will bring.

Hi Karen and welcome to the group. Your new camera will give you endless years of enjoyment and you learn the wonders of digital photography. Please give us an idea of what type of photography your enjoy or plan to pursue and feel free to ask additional questions. Regarding your camera, we would need to know what the model number is to tell you more about the equipment. But most importantly, when you do receive your camera make sure you have read the various tutorials on this site and go over your manual immediately after opening the package. There is no better way to get to know your camera than by knowing what are the camera's functions and capabilities.

I;m glad I am looking at this at 4:30AM, the food looks so good, especially the grilled pineapple. Have you ever tried grilled poundcake with maple syrup for a glaze?

I have a Canon D10. It's their all weather, shockproof and waterproof camera that I never leave without having it in a pocket. It was my main camera for almost a year before I got my D90.

I always liked this photo that I took with my Sony F828 along the Vermilion Cliffs Highway (U.S. 89A) in northern Arizona. The stone building was built in the 1930s.

I liked the A1 a lot, especially because of the 90 degree viewfinder. The camera broke out of warranty, so I bought the S3.
I liked the S3 because of the IQ, but eventually felt limited by the fixed lens.

A crop of a shot taken on the first real day of spring a couple of weeks ago. The reflections created by the condominiums across the river made a nice backdrop for the geese and I only wish I had had my DSLR and a long lens with me. I will have to keep this spot in mind for future. C&C welcome.

... photographic image 'quality' is determined by;
1) Photographer (50%)
2) PP skills (35%)
3) Lens (10%)
4) Camera Body (5%)
but 3) and 4) merge into one thing for a P&S
While a better quality/more expensive camera body can make life easier, it doesn't affect the maximum quality achievable that much.

So many of the posts in this thread appear to provide such strong evidence to support Dave's comments, that it is difficult to understand how these superb compact camera photos would have been any better taken by DSLR equipment costing (and probably weighing!) factors of 10X more.

Is it that the latter are really necessary only at the extremes of photography: ultra wide-angle/telephoto lenses, high-speed subjects, low intensity lighting, huge prints, etc.? (It would also appear to be the case that there are many examples on the Internet of pretty ordinary photographs taken by very expensive kit!)
