Photoshop with Chromebook

My wife got a notice on her smartphone regarding using Photoshop with a Chromebook. Apparently you link somehow to your at home, desktop computer. Unfortunately, she did not keep the notice. I am not sure if this is for cloud based Photoshop or for the Photoshop CS6 that I use....

Does anyone know anything about this? There is a refurbished Samsung Chromebook at a very good price on Groupon. My wife does most of her Internet surfing on her Chromebook and I think that I would like one. The Samsung has 2 GB of RAM and a 16 GB solid state hard drive. At $129 USD that seems like a decent deal!

The Chrome Remote Desktop plugin provides a full desktop experience for those who want it. This cross-platform plugin allows the Chromebook Series 3 to remotely connect to other computers, greatly increasing the Chromebook's functionality.

We connected the Chromebook to our MacBook Air by installing the Chrome Remote Desktop plugin on the Air then installing the remote desktop software that was part of the plugin setup process. In less than two minutes, the Chromebook was mirroring the MacBook Air's display in near real-time.

By default, the remote desktop runs within the Chrome browser on the Chromebook, meaning that the remote computer's screen size is limited by the top navigation bar and the bottom App icon dock. Fortunately, the Remote Desktop plugin also runs in full-screen mode. Still, there was empty white space to the left and right of the screen on our Chromebook, making up for the different aspect ratios between the Chromebook and the 13-inch Air.

Richard - I assume that these are the apps that Adobe puts out for smart phones and tablets.

These apps are nothing like what you are used to; very, very stripped down versions of the software. You need an Adobe ID to access them (i.e everything you work on is stored on the Adobe Cloud), and as I have the full CC package I don't know whether or not this means having subscribed to the CC package. I did install them and played around with them; I downloaded all of them. I deleted everything other than Adobe Color CC as I found the apps so limited as to be almost useless (at least for the type of work I do). I rarely shoot with my phone or tablet and when I do, I have better tools to edit them on my desktop.

Can I download RAW files from my Canon DSLR (on CF cards) by using a card reader connected to the USB port of the Chromebook? Then I would like to copy these files to either a flash drive or a small external hard drive vis the USB port of the Chromebook.

I know that I can open JPEG files using the built-in card reader of the Chromebook.

I don't need to open the RAW files or to do any editing. All that I would want to do is to download the files and copy them to another device...

If I can copy my RAW files from my CF card to any storage media but cannot open and/or view these RAW files, that would be a good reason to shoot in RAW + JPEG.

My Samsung Chrome book (if I have read the specs correctly) doesn't have a touch screen. This is O.K. for me since I don't really like using touch screens...

Hopefully, I will be able to answer the above questions for myself because the Chromebook is about to arrive via Brown today.

I also use Groupon, Richard...I didn't know you can find laptops there though...nice to know...I was hoping this group will extend to cameras and lenses too one day...then we'll have a ball!
