Re: Momma bear and a Spring Cub
Breathtaking... the expression on the cubs face in the last two images is just precious.

Re: Momma bear and a Spring Cub
Thanks for the comments, guys.
Manfred, the bears at this location were in various different stages with the condition of their coats. Some were half molted and looking pretty ragged, some had slick summer coats, and some already had their new, fluffy winter coats. The cubs were real interesting to watch. The spring cubs stay right under the mom's feet as much as possible and mimic her every move. They are in a constant state of high alert. Which means they stand up and look around a lot offering good photo opps. The larger cubs stray a bit farther from mom and do a bit of their own foraging, picking up dead fish etc. and gnawing on them. And of course when there were multiple cubs they play a good bit and get VERY distract often requiring mom to call them back to her.

Re: Momma bear and a Spring Cub
Dan hibernated for a while so we didn't see him for quite sometime...now that he is back, we are all enjoying this story-telling, information rich series, as usual like as if he hasn't left. So much to learn from Dan's shots...all interesting...all excellent images. I prefer the last one too by the look of the cub...

Re: Momma bear and a Spring Cub
more photos, more stories...more information from your narratives. Did you take any shots from your fishing? Was it a family outing? -- dog, wife, daddy of the dog kind of thing? Fishing is fun...I haven't been for a long time...my friend from Colorado is on a cruise there on your side of the pond and he just lost his camera to the waves...must be a big one...he said he is going to buy another Nikon as soon as they reach town...anyway, I am waiting for your next post.

Somehow I missed these Dan. Great set as always but no. 5 is a cracker. Bet it would look good on a wall.
