No, I haven't suddenly gone monochrome.

Shinto architecture is quite simple and I wanted to portray this. I found the things too busy in colour.

This is one of the buildings where "mass" events take place. I suspect that as this hall is right beside the parking lot, it's where car owners come to have their cars blessed. I did not see this, but my wife did when she was at the same spot back in the spring.

One of the strengths of Mono and used well here. The conversions are spot on as well. My only thought is that the highlight on the left hand edge of the first one, pulls the eye a bit (not sure what it is).

I agree with others, good choice of B/W. Particularly the second shot looks like it would be pretty busy with colors thrown into the mix.

Yes...one of the reasons for converting to B/W is the busy-ness of the place. 'Am still enjoying your trip photos though I suspect you are back home to Canada...
