I'm not good at titles :-)

After a sluggish period of very hot summer, at last I started editing some of my photos taken in mid August

I edited this image with SEP2 and CEP4. I have another edit of the same frame but I will upload it later because it is more like an abstract. I will fix the top left corner of the image later , because I did some quick cloning there after saving as JPG.

    C&C appreciated

Hey, Binnur. This image is nicely conceived and executed. However IMO the branches lack the character needed to make it a really compelling image.

Agreed, I look forward to seeing the abstract version though.

Also with these type of shots, I prefer them when they are done with a slow shutter speed so the water is smooth like glass. But thats just personal preference.

Ok this is the abstract one then I have actually two versions, one with the ripples a bit visible and one ripples not visible at all.

Matt, unfortunatelly where I took the photo wasn't convenient for a tripod and long exposure at all

I really like the treatment on the last one, but the branches do lack a bit of character.

The abstract look is more compelling than the realistic look but the subjects in my opinion don't stand up to your typical high quality. The concept is great, so keep it in mind and find some more appealing subjects.

Thanks for the comments Matt. I think when the weather gets a bit cooler, I will get better too. We had horribly humid and hot weather here and thank god it is cooling gradually

Your comment is spot on Mike, thanks for always being in CinC and taking the time to share your thoughts and knowledge

Actually the photo was taken by a lake and the scenery was dull indeed.I also took some landscape shots there but I'm not very happy with most of the compositions and the light either. Besides, it was too hot and the bank of the lake was swampy and wasn't convenient for a tripod.I actually pushed myself to shoot something because I missed shooting a lot.

I will keep your comment and the concept in mind, thanks again

Banner you always offer such wonder critique, I came hoping to offer the same, but honestly I think Mike covered it all.

Thanks for your comment Barbara. I think photography is related to one's mood and shooting conditions a lot. But I have to tell you that I'm usually not very interested in shooting photos related to reality. I like viewing other people's images which reflects real scenes but when it comes to me editing such photos I just feel reluctant and get bored. When I do something different I feel happy. For instance I want to use my 10 stop ND filter more , I want to shoot infrared or I want to create images with extreme HDR, I want to use a speedlight creatively for my nature photos. And I love B&W! So, my trials may not be to everyone's taste all the time. Even so , I need your comments. For this image, the subject wasn't very good but Matt's comment about adding some character to the branches is important for me and Mike's comment was spot on. He spoke as if he came with me where I shot the image and saw the place So, I would always be happy to see your positive or negative comments on my images as there is always something in them to get me a step further

Missed this Binnur. I like the idea and prefer your original to the subsequent graphically processed images. Three suggestions come to mind. Firstly remove the twig on the far right. secondly, re crop it if you can to bring what remains more to the centre (see below). Thirdly, go back and retake it but this time throw a pebble into the water to produce a circular ripple. Just my take you understand but for what it's worth......

I would have suggested instead to remove the thing on the far left. Your idea is far better.

throw a pebble into the water to produce a circular ripple.
Brilliant! I'm not sure the results will be successful (I'm also not sure they won't) but I sure do like the creativity involved in making rather than taking the photo.

Re: I'm not good at titles :-)

Thank you John and thank you again Mike

First of all there is already a circular ripple in the image but I have to make it more visible ( Please see the upper left of the image)But a circular ripple in the FG among the branches would look nicer of course.Secondly this morning I played with the image again and although I already cloned some parts of the image before uploading , I tried some more cloning options. Actually I tried cloning the leaf and the twigs on the lower left as Mike thought but it didn't work nicely. Then I went out and came back now. When I saw the edited image I said to my self 'yes, that's it' and I felt happy

Thanks for thinking and commenting on my image which is certainly not to everyone's taste .Tomorrow morning I will make the additional edits on the image before moving to my other images.

Binnur...when I saw the edits, I'd was about say I like the original shot too and it was because of that ripple there ... but John beat me to it...Matt's suggestion of slow shutter speed wouldn't have worked for me because the smoothies in the water is not particularly my cup of tea ... I like natural look hence I barely comment on posts that has milky waters...sort of like preferring action shots than stills if you know what I mean...

Thanks for looking and commenting Isabel I already know from some of your posts that you don't like milky water at all. I understand you very well. Photography is such a vast subject that it is impossible to like or dislikle every aspect of it. But it makes people happy and this is what matters

I like the 3rd edit, Binnur. A solitary ripple emanating from the main stick would please me, but nature can be so unobligeing when it comes to composition

Did you consider shooting from a lower perspective - if that was possible?

Thanks for looking and commenting Greg Unfortunatelly the bank of the lake was swampy and not very convenient neither for a tripod nor a lower shooting angle. So I had to be content with what I had.
