    Thanks everyone. The glow is what attracted me to this when I first saw them backlit by the sun. The studio lighting was very simple: a halogen flood pointed upward with an umbrella for diffuse downlighting, and one halogen with paper for a diffuser pointed from the side. It's a three-image stack with Zerene DMap.

    Ah ha...so ya did cheat...you simply recreated what you saw in nature with superior studio lighting.

    yup, I usually cheat this way, but even more to avoid wind than to control lighting.
