    Sweet Pea

Just one of a variety of blooms which are having a final burst of colour before Autumn/Winter take hold in our garden.

I think it looks very nice against the background. Well done.

I love the combination of the background and the flower. I do not believe I have seen a sweat pea for a long time... this is nice....it reminds me of my ex-MIL who loves them as much as the violets...very, very nice shot. What lens did you use for this?

    Hi Neville,

That is a nice combination of colours that works better than might be expected if you describe them as "purple and orange"

I have two ideas I would consider if it were mine:
    a) Clone out that bright bloom in lower right corner, since it the attracts viewer's attention
    OR
    b) Crop off everything from (and including) the 'stringer' downwards, so we only have the bloom to concentrate on

It might be argued, especially for the 'florally challenged' (such as myself), that the stringer helps us identify it as a Sweet Pea though, so I think I favour a).

I hope that's useful, Dave (and I like it anyway, nice detail)

PS Izzie; the lens is given in the info below the image (Tamron 28-300 PZD at 300mm)

Dave, I don't know how that bright bloom in the corner got past me.

Anyhow, it's gone now and I think it is much improved. Many thanks for your input.

Many thanks for that Izzie. As you probably saw in Dave's post, I normally detail the camera, lens and settings immediately under the image. Lens in this case was a Tamron 28-300 PZD, my latest aquisition and one which pleases me greatly as a relatively light but versatile and sharp walk-around lens on my Df.

Thanks also to Jim, Binnur and Grahame for your kind comments.

I would go along with Dave's suggestion (b) and crop out the lower part of the photo leaving it as a square photo

Well - it is much prettier than those boring monochrome squiggly things underneath
