If you could manage a less busy background (per Manfred's advice) I think it would take your flower images to another level, ie; wall hangers. I don't photograph flowers often but I think they are just like birds where a simple clean background allows the beauty of the subject to stand out. It's challenging to photograph flowers outdoors in their natural environment, and I'm starting to think that it is easier to find a place that allows for a simple background and choose the flower in that area, instead of choosing the flower and trying to work around a busy background. Birds are easier in one way because if one is patient sometimes they land in a nicer area.
PS My husband just saw your flower and said it was beautiful! I agree, but I still think simpler backgrounds is something worth striving for...
