Georgian Bay at Killbear Park
The fall leaf tour continued to Killbear Provincial Park, near Parry Sound, Ontario. The scenery here is significantly different from what we saw over the last couple of days. Here the waters of Georgian Bay (a very large bay that makes up a significant part of Lake Huron).
The large granite rocks that make up the bulk of the shoreline were exposed by the glaciers that came through during the last ice age. This shot was taken with with a polarizer and the direction of the shot was almost perpendicular to the position of the sun. The blues of the sky and water were so intense that I dialed the saturation of those parts of the scene back a bit. One can see that the leaf colours are still predominantly green, but some fall colours are showing here and there.

Nice photo Manfred. My first thought when I saw the photo and before I read your preamble was that I wished the sky was saturated a little more. But then I read that you had used a polarizer, so I know that the saturation is there originally, but you had reduced it. Maybe the sky could do with a touch more intensity to help balance it with the blue of the water.

What a change in location, Manfred. Interestingly we have some bays lined by glaciated granite on Prince William Sound as well. But other than the rock there is no visual similarity. The pink and/or blonde colored granite must contain minerals that are toxic to marine growth. Those type of rocks get very few barnacles and very little seaweed clinging to them relative to other rock types.

Both interesting and a nice shot Manfred. That far shore must be a riot of colour once the leaves do turn.
