The third point is occupied, from 1912,by the Orthodox Cathedral "Alexandr Nevsky".

It is a neo-Byzantine style construction inspired by Hagia Sophia

Here, there is a memorial plaque which reminds that,in 1925,the Communist terrorists tried to assassinate the Bulgarian king and many Bulgarians were killed.
It seems that the terrorism is one of the weeds of the democracy.

It is indeed a very impressive building.

The corridor looks peaceful and is my favourite, but they are all very good.

Yes it seems to be the second largest(or biggest if you prefer) cathedral from the Balkans.Impressing of course but not a beauty.
    Thank you

Looking at the ordinary people, they seemed to be connected at their daily problems without no other fervour.

I emphasized their rudimentary without condemn them.I find guilty those who are behind them, wearing intellectual dress of the concepts and trick such short minds.
    Thanks.

Between the mosque and Orthodox cathedral, before 1990,was a Lenin's statue. Now,on the same pedestal Bulgarians raised, what they believe to be Holy Sophia-Holy Wisdom-.I think it is not any Holy Sophia,it is the statue of Sophia, the pagan Goddess of Greeks. So instead of a pagan another pagan

Choosing, initially,Sofia like a resting point,we were surprised to see some interesting things, not to many because of the time which run quickly. The people who survived to the Communism try now to live in that post American movie democracy . In the morning we left Sofia going to the South.

I used to know a girl; who lived throughout communism without knowing it, even though her husband was senior in the Kremlin.

She lived in the mountains relatively near to Almaty and spent her youth listening to the Beatles on the radio. The American way isn't better or worse, it is just different and an illusion, and she felt she deserved some of the riches but unfortunately you have to be one of the chosen or ruthless without compromise.

I think this picture illustrates some differences in culture; here it would be stuffed full of adverts and scantilly clad girls

    Cheers I like it.

This discussion exceeds this forum's goal and,of course,my English knowledge. However I have to confess I had no link with Communist nomenclature and I despised it.We were very few those who did understand that both sides sent on screens and loudspeakers their illusions.
    Thanks for your interest.

After 60 miles or something like that we saw a road indicator which was telling about Rila Monastery. So the traveler can do to the left on a narrow road toward the mountain.

Short time after that,it passes the town of Rila, which is at the feet of Rila Mountain.
