    Unexpected Find

Surprised to run into a Monarch on my outing last Friday afternoon. He was there for a second and then gone.

nice composition, but unfortunately quite out of focus on the body and head. that's what is so frustrating about bug macros: they rarely stay put long enough to obtain good focus.

Thanks John and Dan for the comments and feedback.

John, going to try and sneak out of work later today and go looking for critters. Maybe I will get another crack at a Monarch.

Lovely composition but just lacks a bit of sharpness, not up there with the sharpness of the images you previously posted

    Good find and well shot.
Yes their numbers have certainly decreased substantially since 2014(?). I saw through the whole summer maybe less than 10 whereas they had been all over the place the year previously.

I love monarch butterflies...this is a good one...but they are flighty.
