Isn't that just normal gradation in the sky. The patches of sky showing through the trees seem to match and there is no evidence of a halo.

I replaced the orig. version with a smoother looking one in that area....btw..I believe this is a statue commissioned for a local high school...Don't have much more info...sorry.

Might want to rotate it a bit CCW to plumb up the vertical lines.
