    Timing is everything

Here is a shot of the Chippewa River I took this afternoon.

    Timing is everything

And here is one taken from roughly the same spot (although with an ultrawide lens) the same week, but two years earlier (2013).

    Timing is everything

The leaves are really a lot further behind this year, and of course, the clouds and lighting was better when I took the shot back in 2013. Redoing a shot does not always improve on the original. I left the Nikkor f/2.8 14 - 24mm at home to reduce the gear I took along, and that was a mistake as well.

At a shoot, you always want what you left behind at home...I thought I was the only one...I like the processing better in the first one, more crispier and the textures of the rock are more pronounced but the scene of previous shot is more nicer.

A good example to show us that sometimes it's not better or worse, doing things over, it's just different.
    I like both.

Might have been interesting to capture the same FOV in the current image by merging additional images.

Wide angle shot looks better but nice scene anyway

When you go to the Flickr shot full screen, it's a very nice picture; as good as the second picture, just different. My only thought would be, I wonder how it would be if you had used a polarizer to knock down some of the reflections in the foreground?
    Beautiful area well captured.

First shot was done with a polarizer. I generally use a polarizer on most of my outdoor shots with good light.

The second shot with a Nikkor f/2.8 14-24mm lens. This lens cannot be fit with any filters (technically Lee does make a filter holder for it, so that's not quite 100% accurate), so obviously no polarizer was used.
