    Old Woman Bay and guest

We had just pulled off the highway to look at and take some pictures of Old Woman Bay, a small bay on the north-western part of Lake Superior in Lake Superior Provincial Park.

When we noticed this young bear poking around the other end of the beach. I had brought along the GX7 with the 100 - 300mm lens, just in case an opportunity like this popped up.

This is the second wild bear we spotted this week.

The scene in #1 looks good. The second on is a good find. The way the water looks like, you must have been far away.

The bear is a crop of an image taken with a 300mm focal length (600 mm full frame equivalent on my mFT camera). Yes, the bear was a long way away.

Nice work on the first one. Looks almost like winter clouds and not a bad idea to stay a long way away from a bear.

I guess where there is a young bear, Mum won't be far behind.

Nice shots Manfred. You seem to be enjoying your journey. I take it the evenings are equally interesting. My wife and I get as much from sampling the local fare as we do the sightseeing during the day.

That was our thought too. I'm a lot more nervous when I spot a young bear than an older one. Bear moms tend to be very protective of their offspring and are smart enough to stay out of sight.

Image #1 I like the lighting, the colours, the feeling of solitude...I really like the image.
